After 15 centuries, the restoration of one of the sights of Istanbul - the Basilica Cistern, located in the very center of Istanbul opposite the Hagia Sophia Cathedral, Sultanahmet district, began. The monument is well preserved and is a reservoir, even in the summer heat it is cool there, but it resembles, in architecture, the palace, rather than the well, consists of many columns. This monument is protected by the state and is one of the first, according to attendance, historical place. Even the Greeks began its construction, during the reign of Emperor Constantine 1 (306-337). The construction was completed in 532 by Emperor Justinian.
During restoration work, the monument will be open to visitors.
